Hello My Name is “Barbara Jean Emerich”
Wildlife and Western Artist
I am a self taught artist. I have attended three wildlife artist workshops in Montana with such artist as Terry Isaac, Susan Labouri, Daniel Smith, Paco Young. And a watercolor class at our local collage. I have been around horses and wildlife my whole life. I started painting at a young age. I sold my first watercolor of a horse at the age of 12.
I live in a small desert town where I have abundant resources of old west charm and desert wildlife all around.
I have been painting on rock slabs for 25 years. I specialize in wildlife of all kind. I paint in acrylic on the rock slabs then to preserve the art I coat it with a polymer resin that brings out the luster and color of the rock.
I love to find just the right rock for each painting. I let nature dictate the subject. My goal is to create a feeling that wildlife and the earth are one in the same. That there is beauty all around.
I have just started to enjoy painting on claybord, I also paint in watercolors and pastels.
I have done numerous art shows over the years. Such as the “Art on the lake” in Big Bear CA. Death Valley Western art show, where I won a second and a third place. San Dimas Wildlife Art Festival 2008. 2009. CA open Wildlife Art show in San Diego where I won a first place. Just to mention a few. I have entered Art at the fair. I have won first, seconds, and thirds.
I was a member of the
WAA (wildlife artist association) till its disbandment in 2006
Sincerely,
Barbara Jean Emerich
